Walk-In Cooler & Freezer Service That Saves Inventory
A walk-in losing temperature is a clock running on thousands of dollars of inventory. BakerHouse walk-in techs respond fast, diagnose carefully, and fix it on the first call when humanly possible.
Walk-In Repairs We Handle
Walk-ins are deceptively complex — refrigeration system, defrost system, controls, structural box, door hardware, and the airflow patterns that decide whether you actually maintain the temperature on the thermostat. We service all of it.
- Refrigerant leaks — finding them with electronic leak detection, sealing and recharging properly
- Compressor failures — diagnosis, swap, and proper system commissioning
- Defrost system issues — terminator failures, defrost heaters, drain line freezes
- Condenser fan and motor problems — outdoor or remote condenser issues
- Evaporator coil icing — root-cause analysis, not just thawing
- Door seal, gasket, and hinge replacement — small parts, big efficiency impact
- Box panel and floor repairs — water damage, panel separation, structural issues
- Control board and thermostat replacements
- Drain line and condensate management
New Walk-In Installs
New restaurant build-out, kitchen remodel, or grocer expansion? We design and install walk-ins sized for the actual product load and use pattern. Includes box selection, refrigeration sizing, electrical coordination, and full commissioning. Free estimates.
Why Walk-In Service Is High-Stakes
Inventory inside a walk-in adds up fast. A produce walk-in losing temperature for 6 hours can mean $2,000 in spoilage. A restaurant freezer with a slow refrigerant leak can ruin protein inventory before staff notice the slow climb. Fast response and accurate diagnosis matter — and that's what we lead with.
Preventive Maintenance
Quarterly walk-in maintenance is one of the best operational investments a restaurant or grocer can make. Coil cleaning, refrigerant verification, defrost cycle confirmation, door seal inspection, and condensate management — caught early, none of these become emergency calls. Ask about service contracts.

Common Questions, Straight Answers
How long can a walk-in hold temperature in a power outage?
A well-sealed walk-in cooler typically holds usable temperatures for 4–6 hours; a freezer 18–24 hours, depending on contents and ambient. Open the door as little as possible. Call us as soon as you know power may be out for an extended time and we'll plan response.
My walk-in won't go below 45°F — what's wrong?
Most often it's low refrigerant (leak), a dirty condenser coil, a failing fan motor, or a door seal letting heat in faster than the system can remove it. We diagnose root cause rather than just adding refrigerant and walking away.
Can you replace just the box, just the refrigeration, or do they have to go together?
Either or both. We can replace the refrigeration system on an existing box if the structure is sound, or rebuild a damaged box around an existing refrigeration system. Most economical path depends on age and condition — we'll show you the numbers.
Do you handle natural-refrigerant systems?
Yes. CO₂ and propane-based natural-refrigerant systems are increasingly common in commercial refrigeration. Our techs are trained on them.
How often should I service my walk-in?
Quarterly is the right cadence for most commercial walk-ins. The cost is small relative to the inventory and operational risk. Service contracts make it automatic.
